Assistant Vice President, Marketing/Marketing Communications

About the Position

The AVP for Marketing Communications is responsible for developing an overall marketing strategy to support the success of the company and its several business verticals. The AVP will evaluate how to leverage existing staff resources and fill-out a marketing team.

About the Role

You will be responsible for increasing brand awareness with current and potential clients through communications that effectively describe and promote our organization, products, and services. Your work will include analyzing current marketing channels and content, suggesting enhancements, and implementing them. 

You will be “hands-on” in writing and producing campaigns, as well as collaborating with colleagues, supervising a small team, and working with vendors. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and leverage brand identities

  • Develop a nurture strategy for the sustainability of various business units

  • Create marketing programs that support Sales lead generation, prospect education, proposals, and closing

  • Develop market penetration strategy by key markets

  • Create marketing calendar by focal area and market

  • Partner with internal stakeholders for campaign and implementation planning based on goals, audience, key messages, modalities, timeline, and measurement

  • Evaluate existing marketing materials, identify updates and enhancements, implement changes

  • Supervise creation and distribution of content development for newsletters, catalogs, brochures, email blasts, social media campaigns, whitepapers, and website updates

  • Oversee graphic design, developing designs for basic materials, working with external graphic designers on more complex projects

  • Oversee marketing copy development as a strong editor with an eye toward dynamic content and client-centered solutions

  • Understand the client perspective, experience, and journey

  • Collaborate with vendor to oversee promotional video production process including scheduling, coaching talent, guiding editing and post-production, video posting and supporting marketing messages

  • Use CRM, Marketing Automation, and Google Analytics to identify and implement key metrics to guide activity and measure success

  • Use SEO to continually enhance website optimization

  • Lead media relations activities including drafting, distributing press releases, identifying media lists, managing interview requests

  • Evaluate RFP format, suggest approaches to efficiently communicate key messages in an attractive, effective manner

  • Develop trade booth exhibit materials/collateral

  • Identify promotional item opportunities and work with team to provide both giveaway and paid items

  • Plan new product rollout campaigns 

  • Work with vendors to produce visual marketing elements (e.g. display stands)

  • Track campaign analytics to identify trends, track A/B testing, and increase clicks to open

  • Segment audience personas and target with relevant, curated content

  • Identify opportunities for and develop automations for follow-up to members, training attendees, and consulting clients

  • Strategize on retargeting campaigns, abandoned cart functionality, resource usage

  • Monitor market trends within our fields

  • Oversee contact list identification, selection, and management for campaign communication

  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusion measures in marketing (e.g. photos, graphics, alternate text, language)

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, English, Journalism 

  • 7 -10 years of Marketing experience

  • Marketing – Knowledge of evolving marketing trends and strategies and how to apply them based on client/prospect needs and preferences

  • Creativity – Highly creative, able to evolve seemingly “dry” content into accessible communications that engage the prospect/client

  • Teamwork – Work effectively with others, drawing out the best from each contributor to achieve excellent outcomes

  • Learning – Take in and process large volumes of information quickly, ask questions, make connections and apply to future work

  • Work style – Rapidly growing and evolving organization requires ability to analyze, plan, prioritize, assign, and deliver in necessary turnaround time

  • Software knowledge: CRM, CMS, and Marketing Automation platforms. Sugar, WordPress, Loomly, MailChimp, Google Analytics. MS Office suite including intermediate Excel

 

 

Compensation range $100,000 to $175,000, based on one's experience*
